I am Mina, and I lead the reviews. I have been part of this since early on, and I am also dating Chris Bennett, so the two of us run the reviews side together. I was the person who kept asking annoying questions like how are we actually scoring these games and what does a 4 out of 5 even mean. So I ended up owning the answer, which is how I became the reviews lead.
My job is to keep our reviews honest and consistent across a dozen writers with a dozen different tastes. I read everything before it publishes, push back when a score does not match the words, and make sure we are always clear about what a game gets right and where it falls flat. We never take payment to bump a rating, and I am the person who guards that line.
Personally I am drawn to cozy and narrative games, the kind you sink into rather than sprint through. I also have a soft spot for a good daily puzzle to start the morning. I think a fair review respects your time more than it flatters the game, and that is the standard I try to hold every page on the site to.
